Getting to Post Ranch
Post Ranch Inn, located on the Big Sur coast off Highway 1, is 30 miles south of Carmel, 150 miles south of San Francisco and 325 miles north of Los Angeles. The closest airport is Monterey, about a 45-minute drive to Post Ranch. Guests can also fly into San Jose Airport or San Francisco Airport and drive to Post Ranch.
Please note that on-demand transportation services such as Uber and Lyft generally do not operate in the Big Sur area. We ask that you please plan accordingly.

FROM LOS ANGELES
(360 MILES, 6-7 HOURS)
See Map- Take 101 North towards San Jose / San Francisco
- Near Salinas, take CA-68 W towards Monterey
- Highway 68 merges into Highway 1 South
- Continue on Highway 1 past Monterey & Carmel
OR
- Take I-5 North towards Bakersfield / San Francisco
- Take exit 268 from I-5 N. Get on US-101 N in Paso Robles from W Lerdo Hwy, via CA-33 N and CA-46 W.
- Follow US-101 N to Abbott St in Monterey County. Take the Abbott St exit from US-101 N
- Take CA-68 W towards Monterey
- Highway 68 merges into Highway 1 South
- Continue on Highway 1 past Monterey & Carmel
The drive from Carmel to Big Sur is about 30 miles or 45 minutes. Post Ranch is located on the west, the right side of the highway.

See Map- Take Highway 101 South
- Follow 101 to Highway 156 West, Monterey Peninsula Exit
- Highway 156 merges into Highway 1 South
- Continue on Highway 1 past Monterey & Carmel
The drive from Carmel to Big Sur is about 30 miles or 45 minutes. Post Ranch is located on the west, the right side of the highway.
OR
- Go south on Highway 280
- Get on Highway 85 South
- Take 101 South towards Los Angeles
- Continue south past Gilroy & Prunedale
- Take Highway 156 West, Monterey Peninsula Exit
- Highway 156 merges into Highway 1 South
- Continue on Highway 1 past Monterey & Carmel
The drive from Carmel to Big Sur is about 30 miles or 45 minutes. Post Ranch is located on the west, the right side of the highway.
OR
Take Highway 1 south to Big Sur. (It takes a bit longer, but it’s a beautiful drive.)
